Big Bear Remodeling
Today, we specialize in Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling, and we also remodel Basements and Attics. We have an employee-based business model, which means we use our own employees instead of subcontractors. We also run our own in-house electrical and plumbing divisions, so we can pull all permits and manage your project under our umbrella. Our in-house Designers can do basic layouts or 3D renderings for the full design-build experience.
We are located on Center Ridge Road in Rocky River, Ohio, and we service most of Northeast Ohio and the greater Cleveland region. We are locally owned, and we are licensed by the state and bonded and insured with each city and municipality in which we work.
While we can work on any home from any period, we do work on a lot of older homes in Lakewood, Rocky River, and surrounding cities. We are very comfortable with century homes, plaster and lathe, knob and tube wiring, balloon framing and the settling and structural issues that arise from these older, but beautiful homes. We will work with your theme and design, but we do like to try to stay true to the quality of the home and the materials we use.
Our History
In 2014, we started Big Bear Remodeling as a bath remodeling company, and we quickly evolved into a full service remodeling company taking on kitchens, additions, decks, porches, whole-house remodels, and commercial work. We opened our first office in Parma, Ohio, and we more than doubled in size that year despite growing pangs and a tough market.
In 2015, we moved our office to Rocky River, Ohio. It was tiny but it allowed us to grow.
In 2016, we started Big Bear Plumbing & Electrical, our own mechanical divisions.
In 2018, we completed the build-out on our new showroom and warehouse in Rocky River.
In 2019, we were recognized by Remodeling Magazine as one the of Top 50 Remodelers in the United States.
In 2020, we started focusing more on interior residential remodels, where our custom carpenters, tile setters, painters and finishers really shine. We still do some exterior work and commercial work, but kitchens, bathrooms, basements and attics are where we excel.

Licensed, Insured and Bonded
The statistics on unregistered, uninsured, and unbonded contractors are staggering. At Big Bear Remodeling, we are registered and bonded in the counties and cities in which we do business, and we pull all necessary permits. All of our employees are covered by workers compensation, and we carry 2 million dollars in general liability insurance.

Big Bear remodeled my primary bathroom. At the initial visit the owner Rob sketched a great new plan for the space that no one else could match. The following layout meeting was at my home with the designer, plumbing foreman and Rob. Their knowledge and expertise reinforced my confidence that I had selected the best contractor. Through the planning phase and material selections Rob provided helpful guidance but never pressured. During the project the crew on site was skilled, courteous and dedicated to doing quality work. Communication with the project coordinator, office manager and Rob by text and email was excellent. The transformation of the finished bathroom is remarkable. It is completely revitalized. I highly recommend Big Bear. If I could, I would buy another house just to have Big Bear remodel it.

We never used a remodeling company before. We had always just found various craftsmen and tradesmen and managed the project ourselves. But this bathroom was a big project and most of all, I didn’t want it to drag on for months, which can happen when you are managing your own project.
We found Big Bear on Angies’ list and we are so glad we did. I had definite ideas about what I wanted the bathroom to look like and their architect helped me make it a reality. Once I got everything picked out, they used rendering software to create images of what my new bathroom would look like.
Work did not start until all the materials and supplies were on site. Rob, the owner, held a meeting on site with the foreman just to make sure we were all on the same page. Communication between me and the company was great. I had direct text, phone, and email contact with Rob. In addition, I received a weekly phone call from Caitlin just to make sure everything was being addressed. If there are any issues, you can catch them in the very beginning and deal with it.
We had an excellent experience with Big Bear. They did what they said they would do. They showed up on time. They were respectful of my home. They protected the hardwood stairs and cleaned up every day. They worked efficiently and skillfully. My bathroom turned out better than I had imagined. And most importantly to me, they kept the project moving despite a few unexpected curve balls. We highly recommend Big Bear Remodeling!

The Big Bear Remodeling crews are professional, courteous, and thorough. We had the master bathroom completely renovated. They sent weekly check in emails from the office to make sure everything was on schedule and to address any issues. The emails came in on Friday, and they were always responded to by Monday. This allowed for great two way dialogue and communication. We were also very pleased with the quality of the work. The crews are talented, and detail oriented. I'd recommend them.

The Sunday night Scope of Work-Construction Schedules were extremely helpful when planning our weeks, especially both of us working from our home office. The outstanding skill set of each trade involved was great to watch as the puzzle came together perfectly. I cannot recommend Big Bear enough! From day one, everyone from Big Bear was so helpful and personable. At our first meeting with Rob, we weren’t sure what we wanted or how best to utilize our space; but he was able to come up with designs and ideas almost immediately that we loved. Throughout the entire process we never felt stressed or pressured to make any decisions. Rob and John met us at various locations to help pick out materials and were so helpful with their suggestions and recommendations. We had a fairly large project (remodel master and guest bathroom and build a walk-in closed) so it took a few months to complete; but we were pleasantly surprised when it was finished early. The team that we had work on our project were fantastic, they’re true craftsmen. AND, they really did a great job tidying up as best they could at the end of each day. Rob and John were both very good at communicating with us, and even though we know they were working on several other projects, we always felt like ours was their priority. We look forward to working with them again in the near future.

"There was not much to like about my tiny bathroom, from the stinky lowered ceiling to the stained linoleum flooring. The guys gutted the bathroom – took out the nasty ceiling, tile walls, tub, cheap plastic tub surround that leaked into the basement, MDF vanity, old toilet and built-in cabinet. They fixed the holes in the floor, reclaimed the window space that the previous owner had covered over, installed a skylight, and replaced some of the old plumbing in the basement. Then they put in a properly-sloped floor with lovely basketweave green marble and an infinity drain, tiled the walls with a similar green marble subway tile, refinished the top of the wall and the ceiling, installed a quiet fan, vanity and overhead lighting. They put in a dainty pedestal sink, low-flow toilet, shower and curtain rod, and rescued an original door found in the attic and installed it in place of the cheap hollow-core door."

"We give Big Bear Remodeling a solid A++. We met with Rob, the owner, initially for a couple of fun hours to decide the course of action for a complete bathroom renovation, including new flooring, wall paint, acrylic surround with a new tub and new copper piping and more. We appreciated that he had samples and/or catalogs with him for us to choose most of what we wanted that same day. It was an easy, stress-free process. Rob was patient, knowledgeable, and economically priced. We found a few of the miscellaneous fixtures on an internet source when Plan A (checking two major home improvement stores Rob initially suggested) didn't have the unique look we were going for. He was all for Plan B, and he immediately ordered our lighting, medicine cabinet, etc. from the on-line distributor instead. Everything was delivered directly to our home the next week, which was very efficient for the workers. Rob was quick to respond to any questions or concerns during the process. He definitely puts the customer first. At the final inspection, he found a very minor flaw in the paint near an outlet. He insisted that someone would be scheduled to come out to repair it. We highly recommend Big Bear Remodeling!"
